This is it! It’s finally here! The moment we’ve been waiting for! Happy Spring y’all!!! Here are all the things to do in Sealy in April:
Crawfish Season
Springtime in Sealy can not be beat with so many events and activities for all ages, so let’s start with the most important one (in my book)… Crawfish!!!! Creekmore’s Sports Bar has a crawfish boil every other Saturday beginning March 11th. Not a crawfish fan? No problem! They also have boiled shrimp. With plenty of seating inside and out, you’re assured to find a seat. While you are there, start up a game of bean bags, shuffleboard, pool or anything else your heart desires. If you’re going to be downtown, Wolfpack has crawfish every Sunday. Once again you can enjoy the great weather by sitting outside. With live music to entertain you, you will definitely feel that Texas vibe.
Texas Select Custom Cutlery Event
April 1st and 2nd is the Texas Select Custom Cutlery Event at the Austin County Fair & Convention Center. Featuring knifemakers from across the US, it is the largest organized gathering of custom knifemakers in the greater Houston area. If you’re a fan of the History Channels’ Forged in fire, you won’t want to miss this year as Phenix Knives will welcome J. Neilson, ABS Master Smith and Forged in Fire Judge. They are also coordinating with the Battleship Texas Foundation to bring a big piece of the Battleship Texas out to the event. This is to promote public awareness of the history and current restoration project of the famous veteran of WWI and WWII. Details can be found on their event page at texasselectevent.com.
SAHS Springfest
The following weekend holds more family fun at the Santa Fe Museum on East Main Street. The Sealy Area Historical Society will be hosting Springfest on April 8th and there are lots of new things to see. The renovation of “Old Sealy” is well underway with the addition of the Benton Shop and a wooden walkway that takes you to the different buildings. In the Sealy News building, they have new exhibits on display detailing our historic background. While you are there, you will see the map of their 5 year plan which includes the addition of a Victorian House, Church, School. General Mercantile and Saloon. You can find all the details on the Discover Sealy Event Page or at sealyhistoricalsociety.org.
Market Days
April 15th is Sealy Market Days with extended hours from 9 am to 2 pm. Come shop the new and returning vendors with a wide assortment of products! For home décor, you’ll find wood crafts, metal works, wreaths, candles and much more. Feeling hungry? You’ll definitely find food vendors as well as those selling honey, chili mix and salsa mix. Ladies, it’s a great time to spring up your wardrobe with new clothing, jewelry and beauty products. I’ll see you downtown!
Main Street Sealy Classic Car Show
The last weekend in April is dedicated to all the car and truck enthusiasts. Ryan Ford has their truck show on April 29th, so make sure to watch their Facebook Page for details. On April 30th, the streets of downtown will be taken over by classic cars and trucks for the Main Street Sealy Classic Car Show. Hosted by Saddleback Saloon in support of the Rotary Club of Austin County, there will be live music by the J. McCabe Band, street vendors, games and activities for the kids, 50/50 drawings and lots of awards for participants. Check out the Discover Sealy Website or Facebook page for all the info!
Enjoy your spring and we’ll see you at the Sealy events!
